Stayed overnight at Khoon Fai's house yesterday and just reached home.

SK 21st birthday party was super cool, so many different groups of people. Got parents, relatives, muzo, choir, usher, his cell group, school friends, army, etc...

I wonder how my 21st birthday party will be like, lol.

Just a short post, going out soon to teach Jeremiah keyboard. =)

To Wayne:

Actually I knew you've reading my blog cause Angel told me about it. I think my style of blogging has changed quite a lot. If you haven't already realized, I blogged for your reading's sake in the past. Ever since you left, my life sort of changed. Can't say whether it is for better or worse, because it really hurt me a lot, but through it I also learned how to live independently, and that created my soloist nature.

Lots of things happened over the past 8 months, I think I can't say it all over one night of meeting you. But...

I think for this year, the best Christmas gift I have is seeing you again. I know it was hard for you to come all the way down to church just to see me and pass me my overdue birthday present, and I appreciate it a lot. This year's Christmas wasn't exactly splendid, no Christmas dinner, no money to buy anything, only bought one present for gift exchange, not much gifts from people. But you made all the difference to this otherwise simple Christmas experience. So from the bottom of my heart, I really want to thank you.

Initially I didn't know what to say if I see you face to face, but the words just came out so naturally. Like we were born to be best friends, lol. But I'm sorry to say that, and it know it's gonna hurt, I don't have any more regards for "best friends". Which means to say, the phrase "best friends" has been erased from my dictionary. I doubt I'll ever want to have a best friend again. So you must be feeling pretty honored, to be my one and only best friend in my life, hahahah.

I'm going army soon and I really hope you'll find another friend than is 100000 times better than I am. It is my greatest privilege to be once regarded as your best friend. Thanks for everything. =)

With lots of love,
Gary

P.S: Thanks for your present and card too, very original and creative, lol.

Lots of thoughts are flowing through my mind, must be the effect of the long holiday. So I decided to blog about something else(instead of dreams and desires) that I was thinking about when I was bathing. Kinda funny right? Lol.

Perspective

I was thinking about the people I once knew, since primary school till now. Some I can't remember, some left some vague form of impression while others became part of my life. Then I thought, "Why can't some people think like I think sometimes? If only they can read my mind."

Isn't it true that many misunderstandings, conflicts, unnecessary arguments, etc. can be avoided if we knew how each other think? It can be quite frustrating when I try to get across something, and it get misinterpreted into something that is totally different from what I intended to deliver.

Say for example(this is quite common, happens a lot in reality):

Person A is trying to tell Person B something and he shouts VERY LOUDLY. Person B thought that Person A is angry with him and he feels upset/emo/depressed/any negative emotions. But actually, to person A, in his perspective, it is his normal voice, wasn't loud at all. But, in person B's perspective, he thinks that person A is not happy with him.

May sound simple initially, but...

Misunderstanding-->Conflict--->Cold war---->Hatred---->Bitterness--->Vengeance--->Murder

See how something so little can become so serious? It is just like a matchstick, which can set one tree and eventually the whole forest on fire.

Perspective is so important, because it can cause something to be something it is not meant to be.

Yet another example, I came across on the internet.

The same item: A cup half-filled with water

To the optimist, it is a cup half full.
To the pessimist, it is a cup half empty.
To the opportunist, he can use the water and create an electrolytic cell.
To the realist, it is just a cup with water, nothing more, nothing less.
To the creative people, it can be made into a beautiful glass by decorating it.
To the blind, they can't see the cup so it doesn't make a difference.
And the list goes on...

Perspective is like seeing the world though a tainted pair of glasses. Reminds me when I was younger and I had a pair of orange goggles that I used for swimming. No matter what colour the objects outside may be, it will still appear orange when I put on my goggles.

And that is how dangerous perspective can be. If you always think that the person is against you, out to harm you, wants to kill and back stab you, no matter how many good things the person does to you, you'll still doubt him.

Even for me, sometimes I think to myself, I try so hard, only to realize my effort backfired on me. Is it really worth all the effort? I don't know, only God knows. Maybe I shouldn't try so hard, because doing so only suffocates you and make you worse. But if I don't do a thing, you won't change. So what should I do? I really don't know. My IQ is not 200, I'm just an average young teenager.

Don't know why, but it is especially during the holidays that I really wish I have a best friend. I don't know how many times for the past few weeks, I'm been lying on my bed doing nothing, just thinking. Thinking of going out, thinking of just talking heart to heart matters, just letting time fly past together, just being with someone that I feel comfortable with. I don't like to trouble other people, and that prevents me from telling anyone. Maybe I'm just having my post-A level syndrome.

5th Feb will come soon, all this feelings will go away.

Maybe even my feelings for her will fade too. Trying hard to forget about it now. I don't want to torture myself mentally during NS. Haix, alas I'm only human.

Back from last chalet of the year, CG chalet!

I think that one of the best way to forge strong relationships between people is the stay together for a few days. And what other better way to do it than going for chalet =)

Camps are too tiring, going overseas together is too expensive and staying overnight at someone's house is too exclusive, if not inconvenient.

I really thank God for putting me in W453, a youth CG.

To be honest, I ever once thought if I should go to a tertiary CG. Being exposed to a lot of different cultures of other CGs due to my connections with people, I'm quite envious of some tertiary CGs, where they get to go midnight movies, sleepovers, build tents and camp outside, stay out late at night to fellowship, etc.

For youth CGs, more often than not, the members will have PO and sometimes GPO, lol higher level of PO. =X

Given a choice, I'll still choose to stay in W453, because our members don't give much trouble and there isn't much conflict. At the most, there will be some disagreements here and there, which is part and parcel of life. I never had to deal with politics, BGRs(maybe once or twice), bad blood among members.

I'm really apprehensive of going to NS. It'll be so different from the world I'm living in now. But being the positive me, I'll go in and do my best and shine for God =)

Wanted to blog about more profound stuff, about dreams and desires. But I guess I'll take a break for now, leave that for next time...Lolz!

I'll be away for class chalet from 8-10 December. If there is anything urgent just call/sms me, my hp will be 24/7 on =)

Went to Paula Ubin yesterday for the first time in my life! It's so different from what I expected. I thought there will be "cave man" kind of living, no technology, wild boars(didn't manage to see one T.T) and other related ancient stuff.

It wasn't so bad, only rural relatively compared to the main island. Got bicycles, shops, televisions, fridges, etcs. Haha I must be a frog living in a well. Oh wells, must enlarge my knowledge and exposure.

U-tribe was so awesome! I had so much fun. =) Haha I told angel that I anything also will fun one. Just like what my student leader teacher said, "it is not about the activity, but the person who will make the things fun". Fun comes from ourselves. An activity can be super super super fun but if the people are not enthusiastic, having fun is out of the question. But of course, it takes two hands to clap. So, both the activity and the people must be fun fun fun! =D Haha zi high zi high zi high!!

I love my tribe-Joseph a lot! Thanks for being so enthusiastic, even though we didn't win, but we did our best! =) Gave each of them a pair of orange shoelaces for memory's sake. Now my cupboard got blue shoelaces, pokka-dots shoelaces and the latest addition, orange shoelaces. All my precious memories =)

Thanks CGLs and UTC for everything, the first zone outing was a big success, in my opinion. Can't wait for the next one~ Hopefully before I go army, lol.

Up-coming programmes for me:

8-10 dec: Class chalet
10 dec night: Usher outing at seoul garden
13-15 dec: CG chalet
19-27 dec: Christmas candlelight and main service, usher support duty, gift-exchange, many other things.
31 dec: Countdown!

January still not confirmed yet, I think I'll reserve it for training for commando. And also, to train up my "successor"-Boon. I'm so proud of him, his learning speed is so fast! And he is very passionate to learn also, just the kind of student I need =)

Lastly, before I go army...

Seriously need to pray for these few areas:

1) I won't become gay.
2) I won't become a despo.
3) I won't die.
4) I won't drop out.
5) I will become very fit.
6) I will complete my 72km and wear the red beret.
7) I will stay committed to God and not backslide.
8) I will be a testimony to the people around me.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

A levels is officially over on 30/11/09! Now is really the official one, haha!

Saw some of my schoolmates crushing their entry proof, throwing it into dustbin, burning it, and all kind of stuff. For me, I kept it as for memory's sake =)

Took some pictures of my school cause I don't know when is it the next time I'll enter JJC again.

After that went for an all boys' night out to celebrate the end of my A levels!

Went to watch "the informant" at Cathay. At first we thought it is a comedy, and it was. But it was the adult kind of comedy, lol. Then went to play LAN for 1 hour and stayed overnight at Jeremiah's house. Went to sleep at 3am++, Gouwei and Jeremiah didn't sleep at all, power sia.
I lost my ability to "ton" the night already. Must regain back also. Haha after A levels, it is like I lost so many of my abilities =X.

I'm so happy to have so many friends around me. A total contrast from my secondary school, when I was an outcast. Thank you God for changing my life, and also for all my leaders who impacted me =)

Now it is my turn to make a difference in others' lives.

"Find a need and meet it, find a hurt and heal it."
