I'm going write about part of what Edwin shared with me about the working world.

Politics. The good, the not-so-good, and the ugly truth about it.

I don't really revel in involving myself in it, but it is inevitable in almost every phase of life's journey. Even when you try to avoid it, you'll find yourself unknowingly falling into the trap of one. Some use it to their advantage, others succumb to it. For me, I prefer taking a neutral standing to the best that I can. The only one time I got involved is during my CCA in JC. Now getting involved is totally different from experiencing it.

My first experience with class politics is during sec 3. Maybe I did experienced it before sec 3, but I was basically a recluse prior to my sec 3 life, so I don't have much recollection of the past. I remembered how competitive my class was, being the best class in the whole school. Due to this "title" we hold, everyone wanted to be the best. There were backstabbing, gossiping and I keep hearing person A saying something about person B behind his back. Then person B saying another thing about person C and the chain just keeps going on.

Edwin said politics arise when someone not in position tries to act like he is the boss, which I agree. I mean, why will people badmouth one another for no reason? Eat finish rice nothing else better to do? All for the desire to be the best, to look the best in front of everyone. The best of everything. Humans tend to try their very best to surpass their rivals and their opponents. But in reality, what they really need to surpass is themselves.

School is full of politics, work is full of politics, government is full of politics. In short, almost every place is full of politics. Even church and cell groups have politics! Pastor Kong did mention this before. But the extent of politics is not as bad as compared to the world.

I always thank God for a great CGL like Edwin. I told him today that he is the best CGL I ever have. With him around, our CG won't dare to have politics. And of course with Chao Chung too, hahaha! I've seen CGs with politics before and it's quite sad, considering all of them are Christians too.

Going to service and CG is like a haven to me. It's like after going through one whole week of hell in school with all the politics and such, you can finally enjoy two days free without politics. Every week, I'm looking forward to the weekends. I'm sure working adults do likewise in greater magnitude.

I used to think that if you treat everyone well, be kind to them, help them, eventually they'll treat you better as well. But the working world, I guess, is totally opposite. It is a dog-eat-dog world out there, most people should already know. It is quite depressing that people will still back-stab when you mean no harm to them. Human relations is really important. You can't trust everyone. Doing so is being plain naive. The skill to discern who to trust is quintessential in life. I myself need to learn and have more experience in it.

Saying so many negative things about politics, of course there is a good part about it. The good part is that it puts pressure on the existing leaders to do better. If there isn't any opposition, then the leaders will slack and the people will suffer.

In conclusion, it is all about balance. Too much or too little of anything is always bad. Science students will know this the best. The key to life is balance, moderation in everything we do. Even for exercise, do too much and you'll injure your muscles, like me yesterday >.<...

Studying too much is also bad for health, lol! Hahahhahahah! =D (A lot of people will kill me for this, haha!)

Hardest MCQ question of the day:

Gary's father will be bringing him overseas during the 2nd week of January for holiday to relax after A levels. Gary already has a few countries in mind, but he can only choose one. Which country should he go? Budget and price is not of a concern in this question.

1) Perth
2) Japan
3) HK disneyland
4) Australia

Stanley answered 1, Gou wei answered 2. It is a tie now. Waiting for more ideas and responses.

Yippee! =)

Finally I've got some nibbler worthy news to update!

I've got my NS enlistment letter 3 days ago and here is some part of it:

You are hereby required under Section 10 of the Enlistment Act (Cap 93), to report for enlistment on 05 FEB 2010 (FRI) at 8.00am to Commando Training Institute.

That means I got 2 months of free time after A levels. What should I do hmm...?

I got a few programs already:

1. KEL zone outing on 6 Dec
2. Class chalet from 8-10 Dec
3. CG chalet from 13-15 Dec
4. Usher chalet from "Pinde haven't tell me the dates"
5. Christmas celebration! Most likely whole of last week of Dec
6. New year countdown with CG
7. Pre-enlistment outing with CG and S&S

I think my whole of January will be quite free. I want to go Japan badly! Hope my parents can sponsor me. Hehe =X

And of course, other outings like Dota marathon, go out watch movies, sleep-over at friends' house, and many more.

Speaking of NS, I'll also need to train for it. Don't want to go in there and die horribly. My cousin who is an officer told me to train my running cause it is fundamental in there, almost like breathing. Then need to train chin-up and push-up and blah blah blah. No wonder NS people so fit, they spend almost everyday training. But the best part is jumping down from aeroplane, woohoo! I can't wait to jump, lol. Sound so sucidal, hahaha!

Must pray for protection also. I hope I won't become gay inside. Everyday see only man, it's like...=/

I heard everyone there all despo. I hope I won't be like them. Oh man, can't imagine what I'll turn out to be after NS. Heard most of the commandos become a bit psychotic and extreme. Haha then Chao Chung say nevermind, cause I'm also one. Lol, I admit I'm a bit eccentric but definitely not psychotic! I certainly won't walk down the street and randomly bang my head against a banana tree.(no offence to the tree) And I won't walk half-naked down Orchard Road too.

And I definitely won't fake a relationship with anyone and change my FB status to "being in a relationship with ________" and make everyone spam me, lol! Haha trying to "suan" some people =p

But that is still a long long way to go. So far no one likes me yet. Maybe after I become rich, famous or handsome then got chance. I think of the 3, becoming rich is the easiest. Being famous is quite hard, need to have something special that majority don't. Being handsome is even harder. Must be born with it. So, I must get my degree, master and PHD! Haix girls are becoming so practical nowadays. Oh well, life's like that. Quoted from my CCA teacher, "too bad, just suck thumb lor". Haha!

Biologically, this is known as the survival of the fittest. In this case, it is the fight between the richer/more famous/more handsome. =X
Well the rest that don't fit inside any of the 3 category, like me, can just watch the show like seeing a gladiators' fight in a colosseum.

Pop corns, anyone?

Decided to take a break from studying by blogging.

Ugh, physics is really a nerve-wracking subject. It has never been my cup of tea, should have taken biology instead. Only reason for taking physics is that it has this "math" component in it and it has better prospects (or so it was said by my seniors). Studying it causes me to age faster. Could be a good thing, so people won't say I look like lower secondary, lol.

This year's birthday celebration was great, but I sort of expected a lot of things. After all, Edwin's surprise party was just a few days ago and to be caught off guard is highly unlikely. =X

Nevertheless, first time receiving so many presents for my birthday, so I'm quite happy. =)

Presents, to me, are representations of the thoughts. Doesn't matter how exquisite the present is, it's the thought that counts. Thanks for all the thoughts. At least I can see who are my true friends and who are those "hi and bye" friends.

Well my wish really came true, the girl I like really sms me birthday wishes. Lol the feeling is like flying in the sky kind of feeling. I think that is how the idiom "being on cloud nine" came about to be associated with happiness. Reading it in storybooks and comics is one thing, experiencing it in real life is another thing. Lol, it may be one-sided on my side but it's ok. To me, to love doesn't mean to possess. Anyway I don't have any rights to possess. I'm not rich, famous or handsome, lol. I think I can be a philosopher when I grow up, haha.

Overnight prayer meeting last Tuesday was so awesome, so powerful. It's been such a long time since I felt such a strong presence and power of God. My whole body was trembling and had a lot of visions. Thank God my parents allowed to stay. Man, this first session was really nothing compared to the last two sessions. Quoted from Edwin, it is just like appetizer. Wah if every OPM is like that, I think even new friends who come will be touched. Totally incredibly powerful!

Ok break time over, back to studying physics. Oh well, 30 more days. Don't Give Up!

Happy Children Day!

Yup it's the day where all children celebrate for being who they are. Of course, it is none other than my birthday too! =)

God is really good and amazing. I lost my watch in school today and then I got a watch as a birthday present from Eugene's mother just now! And I almost thought of getting a new one. =X

One year has passed so quickly; I can still remember last year's birthday vividly. All the photos are still in my hand phone and looking at them, it was rather heart-warming. I missed my JC1 days...those carefree days where I had so much fun in my JC life, in CG, in church, in everything that I do. Made lots of friends including my best friend. Opened up my life and shared secrets with my close friends. Played on stage for the first time in my life. Learned how to learn a connect group. Went through valleys and summits in life. And so on...

This years has it's up and downs too.

Typical Singaporeans like to hear bad news first, so I guess these were the downs during this year so far:

-Had the greatest emotional pain of losing my first best friend
-Worst grades ever of my education (4 failures)
-Said many hurtful/unnecessary words out of impulse (That's why it is always important to think before you speak)
-Had cold war with my father for the first time cause I didn't study hard enough
-Didn't exercise much and I'm going to suffer for Commando, ugh...!

Actually not that bad, compared to people living in Africa who even have difficulty surviving, much less living a normal life.

Well the ups during this year so far:

-Made a lot of friends in WYZ, especially people in youth band muso! =)
-Pastor said I improved in my playing. One word from Pastor beats 1000 words from others, haha! =D
-Rose up in CG, organised DFTL and leading a connect group on my own =)
-Finally gave something to the girl I had a crush on for more than 2 years =)
-Had the JJC experience of being a Camp Facilitator, Community Service Leader and Student Leader in school.

Lol, this sounds like a year-end reflection. Well, I have a feeling I won't be blogging so soon, cause of A level. Countdown: 41 days.

I promised my parents I will win my brother's score, like the usual tradition since primary school till now.

That means I must get at least :

Math: A
Chemistry: C
Physics: E
Econs: C
GP: E
Chinese: I can't remember, but I think it is a D.

Must buck up on my Physics and Econs, the 2 subject which I have never gotten above E before. May this time be a miracle.

Faith without works is dead.

I have the faith, only thing is, not much time left to do the work. I guess I'll just have to make best out of what I have.

Somehow I wish that you would have wished me happy birthday too, but I guess it's just wishful thinking on my part. Afterall, I already know you've no feelings for me. But just as a friend, I thought you would. Oh well. =X
