Satisfaction that fuels motivation
It is extremely late now and as usual, I'm burning the midnight oil. But, the joy of completing my economics written report and project work preliminary idea is more than enough to keep me silent. So, no complains or whining today. Not for now. =)
Thus, this will be a relatively short post as I have a long day ahead today (past midnight already). School ends at 5pm but I have CSL welcome ceremony at 5pm in school after that.
Not only have I completed my assignments, today's chemistry topical test and math lecture test are finally over. FYI, topical test is equivalent to secondary school's class test as well as lecture test is to secondary school's common test. Both tests were quite easy, and I hoped my results would not be the opposite =X. Ever felt that you shouldn't deserve the marks you obtain for some particular tests/exams? Yes, it happened to me before. And it will happen again, one way or another, haha. Not being pessimistic, just practical.
Just want to wish all the best to the secondary students having their mid-year exams soon. Don't worry about it, I have been in your shoes before. Just focus and have faith =D. A useful yet often repeated advice: Sleep early before the day of the exams and drink plenty of water. Lol!
Ok, time for me to go to sleep too. If not, I will be dozing off in my lectures and tutorials tomorrow.

The start of something new
Just came back from my camps. First camp, my cca camp from friday 5pm to sat 4pm. Super fun. We had icebreakers and games for 1 hr. Then went to ate dinner at 6pm. Then watched a really scary movie in LEP room-Shutter. At first quite scared, but when I know the storyline, then not scary already. Lol. Then went for night walk. As predicted -.-. I was too tired, so lie on the sofa and began to sleep. Then woke up 1hr later. I was the last person to go. Then our president, Ying quan tried to scare me with all the ghost stories. Like I will get scared...Try harder, lalala =P. Then went to wash up and had supper after that. Omgosh, supper rox!! 8 pizzas sponsered by our cca teacher! We ate like hungry ghosts. Lol!
Had night-gaming after that from 1am to 5am. Played 2 matches. Won both cause of kai, the best J1 player being in my team ^^. Then went to sleep for like 1hr. Then woke up and had morning PT. Thank God I didn't need to run. Had corns on my foot. Then went for breakfast and played water games. Woo I love this part. We played 'Dota' real life in the netball court. One side was the Frozen Throne and another was the World Tree. In the middle got fountain of health. We can choose to be attackers, defenders or supporters. For my team, we had 3 attackers, 2 supporters and 3 defenders. Objective of the game: Throw water bombs at the frozen throne/world tree, which are constructed by tying chairs together, until it collapses. After 10-15 mins, we won. Haha...uber fun.
Skip till end of camp...4pm
Community Service Leader (CSL) camp
This is my second camp from sat 7.30am to sun 4pm. Only attended it at 4.30pm as I had EG camp previously. Not going to say much, if not too lengthy le. Just a lesson learnt: Make sure you get enough sleep or you will doze off during talks and get picked by teacher to share your opinions in front of everyone, -.-. And what a coincidence, I only had 1hr of sleep...Grr >.<...
But I love this camp as well. 1st time being a participant in a leaders' camp instead of a facilitator. The J2 were good and hospitable. Their performace were impressive too =D.
And suprisingly, we won the best group award. Quite shocked, lol. Thought group 1 would win it. (I'm in group 2 fyi.) What a nice way to end my day. Haha.
The J2 CSL are so talented, helpful, creative, initiative and ....
the J2 girls are pretty too, lol =X. If only they were younger than me...Just kidding, lolx.

A flaw in the education system?
What a long day. Just came back from CGC meeting with pastor at riverwalk. School ended at 5pm and I rushed there for the meeting. Reached riverwalk at 5.55pm. Then prepared the hall by stacking the chairs. Saw a few familiar faces and, yea, we started with some introduction, SOP (Standard Operation Prodecure).
Then we sang praise and worship. Strong presence of God and we all knelt down. I like kneeling down, but my knees hurt and I have callus-some form of growth on the sole of the foot. They call it atheletes' foot for layman's term. Who cares anyway...lol
Then pastor asked us to share about our revelation from the service's sermon. Then we prayed for the church, cg, personal/spiritual life after that. Then planned the upcoming events in may. Looking forward to the exciting events. Gonna have a Wii Competition and the prize is gonna be sooooo attractive (as promised by pastor. Lol!)
Then he asked us to come up with plans to reach out to our friends. Since the secondary school people are having exams around the corner, some of the people suggested study groups in jurong west church. Then pastor asked for people who can tutor secondary students. Then a few of us raised our hands, including me. Then pastor asked what subjects we can teach/our grades all that. Then I say I can teach almost all the subjects. Then he say 'you sure anot? Don't misled my students.' I was like 'can 1 can 1, haha. 'Lol!
But seriously, I can't recall most of the secondary school stuffs I learnt. Other than maths and english, which is pretty standard, science I can't remember much. Especially since I study triple science. Chem and phy maybe a bit since I'm currently taking it now. But Bio, hmm...I doubt so.
Thats the flaw of the education system. Seriously, think about it for a moment. Different people have different career goals. For me, I want study business. So, whats the point of learning chem, phy, bio, art, home econs, in secondary when it is only partially or totally not relevant at all? I only need maths, econs and some usage and command of english. Maybe a bit of logic and critical thinking too, which are both not taught in the education system.
Saying this though, I still enjoy learning the sciences. In fact, my 1st ambition is to become a doctor, which is quite hard to realise it now, especially in Singapore. PM lee wants to develop us holistically. But, doing so, we are unable to specialise or have an early/strong foundation for our ambition.
Now thats a food for thought, ehh?

Freedom is sweet
Whee, I'm able to post again. Yay. Been going home late for the past week. Celebrated my school team leader, Richie's birthday on friday. Got lots of pizza, 8 to be exact. Then the cake was gigantic, and it costs $80! Woo. Very delicious too, haha. Just love my cca.
Got 10/10 for chemistry test =). Didn't study much, but quite easy the test. Don't need study also can. But still got people can fail, lol. Not suaning them, just quite bewindled.
Cleared my 6 months building funds yesterday too. Finally, can buy all the things that I want to. Come to think of it, I didn't buy anything other than the basic necessities for the past 1 year. Cool right?
Lets see.
Impromptu wishlist:
1) Razor copperhead-$99 for my cca and personal leisure =D
2) Clothes, any brand, any kind, cheap cheap can le
3) Shoes, '' ''
4) Bag,'' ''
5) Anything else that is not here =X
'Stronger' youth camp is coming soon. June 9-11. So excited. Hopefully can become a team ic again. Then lead all those secondary school peeps and rar-rar them. Now I'm a 'big' korkor le. Haha.
Will there be a musical as hoped? Hmm...

Defeat,an inevitable one. Sucess, doesn't come automatically
Realised my blog is quite unique compared to other people's blog. 1stly, I don't post much about my life, I only share stories, lol! 2ndly, other people blog's tagbox are flooded, mine is experiencing a prolonged drought. Lastly, my posts are very lengthy and the colour really strains one's eyes. Lol.
Hope this well do for a change:
Went to school today for my CCA school team trial. Very enthusiastic, reached school around 9.30 a.m. Not everyone reached yet, so we played some warm up games. Then finally the school team leader, Richie, came. Then we were grouped into 5 to play a 5v5 game, xl mode. Personally I don't like xl mode. Very troublesome.
Then the game started. Banned 6 heros, and I used rogue knight. Early game, I am the supporter. Went around catching people and killing. Very 'high'. Lol. Then we were winning initially with 42-30. Then we pushed down 2 lanes' rax already and all our rax were intact. Then our team's farmer, who used Medusa, said he gtg soon and he played impulsively. Go sucide like 2312734948 times and keep feeding when I told him to play normal and stick together. Quite fed up with him, yet must control my temper. Imagine how tough that can be...
Then he say do last engagement, if lose then he will leave. Obviously after not pressurizing the opponent's team and feeding, we will surely lose. And we lost. So sad...I was like...no words can describe. I seriously can't find an english word in the dictionary to describe my feelings. Dismay, anguish, frustration, etc. are not strong enough to express so. Perhaps I was too confident, that is why this defeat is too hard for me to accept. Alas, we must face reality. =/
Oh well, if I can't join the school team, maybe I can join the recreation team. It is not like I'm too free or something. Student leader is already killing me. This is the time I step out of school from monday to friday.
Monday: Last lesson 5pm end
Tuesday: IDP till 7pm
Wednesday: CCA till 7pm
Thursday Last lesson 5pm end
Friday: Last lesson 3.3opm
Friday is supposed to be the happiest day of my week, yet due to all the student leader activities, I just I can't step outside the gate before 7pm as well. Not mentioning the tons of homework I have to do. I average less than 5 hours of sleep everyday. This makes me prone to falling sick and sleeping in lectures. Haix...I love school, but I hate being in it. What an irony...
Yawns, guess no 1 will be reading this anyway except for a few people. And the person reading this post now (don't need to look around, it is you), thank you for being my sole motivation for posting. =)
Do tag as well. It takes only 5-10 seconds to leave a tag. What is 5-10 seconds compared to 10 minutes reading my post? Haha, what logic is this? Lol, I call this Gary's logic =P.
All my tutors want me to complete one week load of homework within 2 day. How impossible can that get? 0.o. And 1 day is gone already. GL-HF Gary. By the way, you can forget about the HF part. (I'm talking to myself again...maybe I need to see a psychiatrist soon.)
