I'm Back!! and Bigger!! ^^

Hurray, CDAYL camp is finally over. All the time of stress and meetings and being 'blasted' by teachers are all finally over! It was really worthwhile, and I enjoyed myself throughoutly. Too bad I didn't bring my digital cam along, so no photos =(.

Not saying much about the camp, become a student leader and join it next year =D. Heh heh. Btw, 35 people from my secondary school participated for this camp. They include student councilors and class chairman. I recognised only some of them, especially those from my cca. But didn't have a chance to say hi, how sad...

This camp taught me about 1 thing. Force your campers to eat their meals!! Do you know how many extra plates were left after every meal? I was the admin and food attache and I had to throw away 50+ plates every meal. My heart was really aching, considering all the African people. Everyday, we are literally murdering 1000 african people indirectly. I almost cried you know, that is how sentimental I am, lolx. Even outsiders know how much resources the camp waste. Go to goggle and you will understand.

Oh well, what is done is done. You can't change your past, but you can decide for your future. I hope that the school will minimise the usage of resources. FYI, we do pay for all the water and food. I seen the cheque and bills. So outsiders, please don't assume JJC is using the resources for free and we are being backed by the government. That is a misconception.

Hmm, got lots of homework to do. Plenty of revision is required. Oh, how can I ever find the time to do so? School activities are already taking a toll on me. Being able to leave school at 5pm is considered a miracle. I guess it is only possible on fridays.

Nevertheless, at least I still enjoy all the activities. Pity those people who are being coerced to join, and they can't back out in the end. Gonna join CSL (community service leader) soon, hope to pass the interview ^^. The rank is equivalent to a student councilor, so I still get to wear the cool, hippy and totally awesome JJ leader T-shirt. Lolx.

Not looking forward to school tomoro. 7 ulcers on my lips and I'm extremely exhausted. Even went to watch movie today with Edwin, CC and Edwin's relatives. Fell asleep during the movie: step up 2. Haix...

Good Morning, Good Friday

Just a short(We'll see, hehehehe) post before 3 busy day.

Oh gosh, it is already 1.30am. Today had been a busy day. Got lessons till 5pm. After school from 5pm-8pm got Student Leaders' meeting. Reached home around 8.20pm.

After reaching home, got plenty of things to do too. Forecast, conference calls, check e-mails(I didn't touch the com for the past 4 days). Firstly is no time, secondly is my brother wants to use it. When he uses finish, I can' use it anymore. Why? He sleeps at an amazingly early time- 10.30pm. -.-''.

So for today, he went out of the house at around 11pm. I think went to friend's house stay overnight. So after doing all the admin stuff, still had time for one Dota game. Yay! ^^. After so many days of studying and planning and all the working, can finally relieve stress for a while.

I was determined to win, cause never play for quite a while. So I used morphling, my fav 1v1 hero and best farmer. Record- 16 minutes get EOS. Then this time very easy the game, no kick. I got first blood, free farm, everything. But very slack, so got EOS at 28 minutes instead.

Then I was temped to play 1 more, but very late le. So I went to youtube instead and watched 'Jesus take the wheel' video. I just love the song, lol. Then was looking at the comments. Many controversies, as expected. But at least all those rude comments in the past are visibly gone and everyone, regardless christian or not, enjoyed the music.

That should be the way.

You'll get what you paid for ^^

I'm sure most of you have heard of 'There is a price to pay for everything you have done.' This sentence in itself, poses plenty of negative connotation. Life might so brutal at times, everything that we want to have, we must work for it. Another familiar phrase 'There is no free lunch in the world' flashed into my mind. Even if someone give you a free meal, you have no idea whatsoever how much that person has sacrificed, be it insignificant or huge. This is what I realised from the Leadership camp I just attended.

Yet, in every situation, there is a flip side to it. A simple analogy: A coin has 2 sides right? What makes you so certain that it will always land on the side you want? Yea, some talented people can increase the probability in making the coin do so. Thats why it is important to invest in your talent too. This brings me back to my main point. 'You'll get what you paid for. ^^''

All those people have paid the price to master certain tricks/skills which enable them to perform above average acts. 'Legends are created, not born.' You think a 1-day old baby can recite all the macluarin's expansion and trigo formulas?

Just one simple analogy by Pastor Zhuang can explain my main point:

Imagine you go to a popular chicken rice stall at orchard road. So the queue is very long and the chicken rice is $4.50. Very expensive, ugh.

1)By queuing up, you have already made a decision in your mind that you will want to get that chicken rice, no matter what.

2) You took out your wallet and realised you have only $4.50 left. But you still want that plate of chicken rice, no matter what. After 5 minutes, you finally reached the counter. You smiled happily and passed the cashier all your money.

There is this satisfaction that you have inside you. It was worthwhile.

This illustrates the importance of sacrifice. If there is no sacrifice, there wont be a finally experience. Everything will be automatic, no satisfaction =(. Another thing is, whatever you pay for, you will surely receive it. Don't tell me you give your $4.50, the cashier will say: ''Huh? Did you order any thing?'' Definitely not!

Many have tried to argue about this point. They say: ''But I prayed leh. I asked God to bless me with this and that leh. How come don't have ah?'' Wait a moment. Ask yourself this question. ''Have a prayer enough for that prayer to be fufilled?''

Doing the 1st step, queuing up to buy the chicken rice, is not sufficient. If you reach the counter and you give her only $2.00, do you think she will give you that chicken rice? The answer should be pretty obvious. Likewise, how much have you prayed that you are so certain you will definitely receive the blessings? Maybe you only prayed a $2.00 prayer?

That concludes my post. Finally, the joy of being able to post so long =D. Actually this is nothing much compared to a regular GP essay, which is about 1000+ words?? Hah.

Thank you Edwin for your much needed counselling and encouragment. It really brought me out the the bottomless pit I was on the brink of tripping into. W453, lets expect a great harvest for easter yea??

Recollection-West Zone Line Camp

I'm back from my camp, Woo! Exhausted? Yes. Muscle aches? Yes. Fun? Definitely!

Too many things to say about the camp already, so wont go into the details. Line stands for leadership, innovation, national education and enterprise. The campers involved were from primary schools and secondary schools from West 2 cluster. We(the J1) were their facilitators for the whole camp. Different facilitators have different roles, and I was the food attache. Had to prepare the meals for the campers-breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. It is the most tiring job as we had little chance to rest, or never. Have to wake up 5am everyday to prepare the breakfast, after breakfast have to clear the family spots and food point. By the time we clear up everything, lunch will have arrived and so on. Everything is very clockwork.

I love preparing the food and delivering them to the family spots and LN(Leader's network). Then the other food attaches and I often joked and chit chat with each other, making it a fun time. We didn't spend much time with our campers, but we treasured every minute spent with them very much. Every event,we make sure we give it our 100%.

Now I know my OGL felt when I was a camper during the orientation camp. I wasn't exactly very cooperative and didn't want to take part in the activities-like mass dance, water games, etc. Now, I have to be the one encouraging the campers. They were so cute, lol! During mass dance, they were like 'I don't want to hold the girls' hands!!', and they kept running around the hall. Very chaotic, and the teacher-in-charge, Mr.Chua, reprimanded us during the debriefs. Too bad I spent 90% of my time at the food point, and didn't have to chance to participate in the activities.

Basically, I have learnt a lot from the camp-Communication skills and leadership skills. There was this warmth and strong bond between the fellow facilitators and campers. Many tears were shed when we had to part. Everyone was like 'Can I stay for a while more?'

Mr.Chua said that the camp is successful only if the campers were reluctant to leave and they were grateful to us. We did it, so satisfying. Looking forward to CDAYL, which is 10000000 times more important that this camp. The school's reputation, like what Mr.Chua said, rest on CDAYL alone.

Facilitators, we can do it. Yeah! Rest well, drink lots of water and do all your homeworks. Left 3 days to do only, so must buck up. We will see each other soon when school reopens.

Words cant describe how much I miss all of you and the campers. Images just kept flashing in my mind, haha. I will never ever forget this camp. =)

CDAYL-Cutural Diplomat Asian Youth Leaders



Woo, I can finally post after a long break. See the extremely weird title? Don't understand it at all right? Haha, let me enlighten you =).



Let's start with the interview today. Ok, today I went for the interview for the selection of the facilitators of the CDAYL camp. These include the planning committee and the OGLs. We gathered at LT5 at 4.30pm, and didn't expected to see such a huge crowd. More than 200+ people came for the interview and saw some of my OG/class mates and friends. Then did some cheer and made fun of the 2 emcees-natalie and tommy. Lol, everyone was like 'Kiss!Kiss!Kiss!' and 'Taupok!Taupok!Taupok!'(for tommy only, girls not inclusive =X) Hahaha, so funny. Learnt 3 new cheers today, and had a really fun time. 5 by 5 we went for the interview, and it really took a long time waiting. Waited till 6.50pm before it was my turn with 4 other people.



We walked to classroom 213 and sat in the middle of the class on a chair each individually. Then the councilliors began to ask the first question: ''Use an analogy of a fruit to describe yourself.'' I was like, partially stunned but happy. At least it is something I understand. Then there were 7 of us.(cause last group le) So a girl beside me spoke up 1st. She said 'Orange...' Ok, very long, dun want to recall.



Then I spoke up next( it is not in sequence, you speak when you are ready). I said 'Apple represents me the best...'' My last sentence was: ''I want to be relevant to the campers and be an apple in their eyes.'' Then everyone in the classroom appluaded and said ''Wow, model answer.'' I was like so so so happy lo!! =D

Then got ask around 5-6 more questions, shall not elaborate further. Hope I am able to pass the interview and become one of the planning committee. Woo, so excited, lol.

Looking forward to the great friendships with the other leaders and my fellow classmates. ^^
